Postdoc Diary: Day 39 - Bottle Shock

Did the usual morning routine - you wouldn't think walking in place for 20 minutes would be that painful but these people are annoying in the morning. A better strategy for me would be to work out with Oscar the grouch. Hey you knucklehead pick up those knees your marching like by grandpa or something. Headed off to work nothing too exciting there, sent the paper out, then went to work looking at the Y-chromosome Chibcha stuff and how to hack 1,000 words out of the bilirubin paper. Headed home, ate dinner. The highlight of the day was we watched a wine themed movie. So like any budding oenophile I plopped down, opened a beer, and watched the movie Bottle Shock. This movie is about a blind wine tasting in 1976 where California wines went up against French wines. Both the California white and red wines won - which was surprising because all the judges were French. This actually represents a milestone in the history of wine making as for the first time the myth of French wine superiorty was banished leading to the global wine industry we see today. That and any movie with Alan Rickman can't be bad anyway. Although I have no idea why women see him as attractive. Then off to bed with the munckins.
