Year of the Postdoc: Day 14 - San Antonio Zoo

Actually got to sleep in this morning until 7:12 A.M. Yeahaw. Woke up sandwiched between X and C, two dogs, a cat, four elephants, a giraffe, and a kangaroo. This pet thing is getting out of control. Some days I feel like Noah. The only thing I need now is some deity to tell me to build a boat. I'm sure the homeowners' association would appreciate that. We get up, watch a little TV and get ready to head to the zoo. So while the rest of the country was either freezing or preparing to flood we headed off to the zoo. Hey, it fits with the whole animal thing.

X and S plot the assault on the zoo animals.

Do they have real animals or just these statues.

A baby Komodo dragon - they have big ones too. None of my children speak parseltongue. We all belong to either Ravenclaw or Gryfindor. Although my great, great aunt, twice removed on my mother's side was almost in Slytherin.

LEMURS! These are red ruffed lemurs - one day I will go to Madagascar and hang with these dudes.

A rather small grizzly bear - much bigger in the wild when they are chasing you through the mountains of Montana.

My beautiful wife, with L in her sling

More primates. A gibbon doing what they do best, brachiating.

Spencer touching a skape - kind of a rock lizard.

X, S, and C hanging out with the sloth.

S riding a tortoise or actually just sitting on a statue of one.

An eagle that bears a remarkable resemblance to Sam the eagle from the Muppets.
