Huntington's and Health

Science Daily has an interesting article on Huntington's and health. The reseach paper "A Darwinian Approach to Huntington's Disease: Subtle Health Benefits of a Neurological Disorder" challenges the traditional view that individuals with Huntingtion's disease have more children because they are more promiscuous (cue Nelly Furtado) but argue that the reason the mutation has been maintained in the populations is because it contains health benefits when an indivdual is young. The obvious drawbacks are the neurological problems that occur in the 30's and 40's . The whole time I read this story I kept wondering if affected males had deep voices (see this recent research story cue Barry White).
