Squirrel Science

The New Scientist has an interesting blurb regarding the use of hot and cold tails by squirrels to ward off predators (Thanks Kris). Below are a couple of infrared videos from Youtube that show this in action. The first shows the use of hot to ward off a rattlesnake and the second one the use of cold to ward off a different type of reptile. It always amazes me how little we actually know about species interaction - even today.
