Day 201: Water Buffalo

I went to a lecture today on Amazonian chiefdoms in the former KU Anthropology museum (it is now the commons). Aside from the weird newspaper are growing out of the support posts, this was in one of the corners. I'm pretty sure it is supposed to represent a water buffalo.

Day 191: Modern Art (9/30/2008)

If you have ever lived in a liberal university town (I'm not sure if there are conservative university towns), you will no doubt confront modern art. This statue is outside the Spencer Museum of Art. I must have passed by this 100 times and I honestly have no idea what it is. Kind of looks like two dudes hanging out but I'm not sure.

Day 114: The Douglas County Courthouse FIlial (7/14/2008)

I was picking up the boys from pre-school today and the Lawrence Arts Center had this display up. This one of the new filials that will go on the county courthouse. The one on the left is the new one and the one on the right is the one that is to be replaced (you can see the severe weather damage). You would think that I worked at preservation office or something.

Day 109: Patriotic Portable Art. (7/9/2008)

I was driving by a house near school and spotted this beauty. There is nothing quite like patriotic portable art. I wonder if they thought it was weird when I rolled up and took a photo out the car window.

Day 54: Kids Art (5/13/2008)

I had a meeting up on campus this afternoon, so I had to bring my kids along with me. They hung out with a fellow lab mate and drew pictures while I was gone. However, I strongly suspect their artistic talent does not extend to the flower level as of yet.
