Day 38: Raoul Wallenberg (4/27/08)

Occasionally, I come across a news story so compelling, do darn interesting that I just have to share it. Raoul Wallenburg was a Swedish diplomat who was also an undercover OSS agent who's job was to help the Jews in Hungary escape the Holocaust. However, shorty after the Russian entered Hungary, he was arrested as an American spy due to his association with the Pond (an organization so secret it doesn't even have a wikipedia entry). This is so like an Alan Furst novel it is amazing.
